Our business was originally formed by bringing together expertise within both the Accountancy and Financial Services industries. Providing our clients with financial advice and structured planning to meet their goals in the most tax efficient environment.
Our clients are mainly entrepreneurial business owners and whilst we are able to provide advice to both the individual and the business separately in the majority of cases our advice helps our clients to keep both their personal and professional financial goals working in tandem.
With offices in London, Essex and Suffolk we are well placed to assist clients throughout the south east of England. Our business consists of three Diploma Qualified Financial Advisers, supported by a qualified Paraplanner, who between us have been helping people achieve their financial goals for over 50 years. We each have different backgrounds within financial services providing an excellent blend of knowledge and perspectives to draw on.

My first steps in to the financial services industry came in 1998 when qualifying as a Mortgage and Protection Adviser and being part of the development of a new business. I helped this small business grow to be one of the largest mortgage practices in the UK and ultimately ended up as the Managing Director with a team of over 50 staff. In 2004 I introduced a financial planning division within the firm, allowing us to work with our clients to achieve their long-term goals and prepare for the future.
During 2011 I was approached by LB Financial Solutions, a UK Top 100 firm and my accountants, which had looked after my affairs since 1998. The board of LB Financial Solutions wanted to provide their client base with regulated financial advice with a level of passion and professionalism to match their own. After months of planning LB Financial Solutions was launched and has proved to be a great success in helping our clients to structure their finances in the most efficient and suitable way for their circumstances.
I love my work and feel genuinely passionate about helping people achieve their goals, whether that’s buying a new home, being able to retire comfortably or making sure of financial security when life throws a curve ball. The practicalities of our role can be very dry, technical and numbers driven but seeing the impact it has on real lives still gives me the same buzz it did 20 years ago.
When I started searching for my first job back in 1991, a long career in the Financial Services industry was not something I had set my heart on. However, within a few weeks I realised that not only had I found my vocation, I’d started to appreciate the value that good financial planning and advice can make to people’s everyday lives.
Since those early days in the 90s, I have spent the bulk of my career within the sales offices of Aviva and LV=, managing their administrative function to ensure a high level of service is offered to all clients. Whilst technology has and will continue to revolutionise our industry, I am still a great believer that what we do remains a “people business” and it’s the quality of those people that ultimately make the biggest difference. My background has given me a broad knowledge of all aspects of financial services and this has also enabled me to complete my Diploma in Financial Services qualification.
In 2018, I was offered the chance to join LB Financial Solutions and having known Andy for many years, and more specifically the quality of the business he has built, this was a very easy decision for me to make. My role at LB Financial Solutions is to take overall responsibility for the day to day running of the office, manage the administration team, and to also provide para-planning support to the financial advisers.
Outside of work, I enjoy the challenges that come with being thoroughly out-numbered by my wife and two teenage daughters. Although not altogether linked to the previous statement, I enjoy taking our two dogs for long walks and spending time at the gym. I’m also a keen baker and despite my bread often being more ‘miss’ than ‘hit’, I am wholly convinced that one day I will make it onto Bake Off.
My first role in Financial Services was back in 1997, working within a financial planning and mortgage broking business. This role offered a great introduction to how the industry works and how much there is to learn. The role was primarily admin based but from there I studied for the qualifications required (at that time) to become a Financial Planner. Since then I have worked in Tokyo as an investment adviser for a short period, owned my own small business and worked for two large corporate entities all within the financial services industry. These experiences have been essential in developing my role as a Financial Planner.
I have been with LB Financial Solutions since its launch and learned a tremendous amount during this period due to the close working relationship with LB Group accountancy. Our clients expect us to be knowledgeable in all areas and to be able to liaise and complement our accountancy colleagues. It's varied and interesting and a great place to work because of this.
I am married with two children and the family dog! So, life is busy but very enjoyable. My free time is mostly spent with family, but I also still have time to play football and golf (badly to be honest).
After several years working with the money markets for a bank in London, in 1985 I started my career in Financial Advice. I found the direct interaction with clients and helping them to better their situation provided me with a real sense of achievement and pride, a feeling that I still thrive on to this day. My career developed in financial services to the point that I managed a team of 38 advisers, helping them to achieve the highest levels of professionalism with their own clients.
During 2010 I joined Andy Sewell's previous business, bringing additional knowledge and qualifications to strengthen the company's offering. Two years later I was delighted to be included in the development and implementation of LB Financial Solutions. I feel the business is achieving its core goal of providing an outstanding level of customer focused advice and it's great to be an integral part of this fulfilment. I thoroughly enjoy my role and currently work with the best people I have encountered during my working life.
I am married with three grown up children who I am very proud of. During the summer you can find me most weekends windsurfing or sailing off of the coast of Mersea Island. I also have a keen interest in cars, and building kits, so you might also see me driving around in what looks like an E Type Jaguar.
I have worked in Financial Services since 2001, starting out within a small IFA firm directly from school and loved the industry straight away. Over the years I have gained valuable experience from working in a variety of different businesses, ranging from small boutique companies to one of the UK's largest financial planning firms in London. I joined the team at LB Financial Solutions in the summer of 2013. After meeting with Andy and the advisers it was apparent that the culture of the business was to put the client at the heart of all decisions. I admired the honest and ethical approach to Financial Planning that the team shared and could tell these were people I wanted to work with.
My original role within the business was as a Paraplanner, providing the technical research and support to the Financial Planners in the business. After completing my qualifications in 2017 I decided to move to the role of a Financial Planner myself, where I felt I could make a real difference to people’s lives. My technical knowledge and the experience that I have acquired since first joining the profession all help me to provide a complete advice service to my clients and I regard helping them to live the lifestyle they want is a real privilege.
Outside of work I spend my time with my daughter, we like to go on bike rides, days out at the Zoo or a walk in the countryside. I also like nothing better than finding a nice quiet spot and getting lost in a Jodi Picoult novel.
I began my financial services career in 1995 working for HSBC, shortly moving on to Household Finance Corporation where I spent a significant part of my financial services career, firstly as a Customer Account Manager rising to a Branch Manager after several promotions.
In 2007, with several years of general Branch Manager experience gained I wanted to specialise in advice relating to mortgages, an area I had always found interesting. I joined a National business that provided services and solutions to mortgage advisers, effectively advising the advisers. Through intensive training and development this role allowed be to build an extensive level of knowledge quickly. Within two years the global financial backdrop changed and this business became a casualty, ultimately leading to my redundancy in 2009. I took the opportunity to use the knowledge I had learnt to gain the qualifications required, and became a regulated adviser in 2010, joining Andy in his previous business. Although some would say my timing with the global financial crash was poor I have found this to be the opposite and developing my skill in a tough market has been a great education for me.
The last 7 years of my career, and advising in a market that is constantly changing, both commercially and in its regulation, has been both the most challenging and rewarding of my professional life to date.
Outside of work spending quality time enjoying life with my family is my main priority. I also enjoy regular trips to the gym and early morning runs which is a good thing as I also love good food and wine. Now I’m in my forties the former is very much needed to offset the effect of the latter.
I began my career in 2001 at HSBC where I held a number of positions, starting as a cashier, qualifying as a Mortgage Adviser and finally working as a Premier Client Relationship Manager. It was in this last role I found my greatest personal satisfaction, helping clients to make decisions around their investment portfolios and future plans. I decided to pursue the qualification required to be able to provide formal advice and achieved Diploma status in 2014.
Once qualified it felt it was essential to gain additional experience and joined a firm of Independent Financial Advisers with particular exposure to the pension and retirement planning markets. I have also continued with my personal development in undertaking further qualifications, including those required to provide advice on mortgage and equity release.
I pride myself on listening to what my clients want to achieve and then, through a continued ongoing relationship, help them get there.
Outside of work I have several hobbies and interests including golf and cycling. However, having become a father is 2016 both my golf clubs and bike are gaining dust in the shed. I am a committed family man who enjoys spending time with my wife and young son and now fully appreciate how precious sleep truly is!
I have worked in the Financial Services industry since leaving college in 2012. My first role was within a large IFA Practice where I was a Personal Assistant to one of the Partners as well as being part of the administration support team. Working within a team gave me a great opportunity to learn new skills as well as develop my overall knowledge of the mortgage and protection application processes. Although I enjoyed being part of a team and the valuable experience it gave me the work I really enjoyed was the PA role where I could take full responsibility of a task and deal with it from start to finish. I wanted to combine both elements so after two years I joined a Mortgage Broker as his sole support, this was a holistic role where I was responsible for all administration, PA and general office duties. By the summer of 2015 I felt I needed a new challenge and took the opportunity to join Andy and his team, this has provided the perfect role for me, working within a dynamic team but also taking full responsibility for the applications I look after.
I spend my evenings and weekends attending dance classes, where I also teach and socialising with friends. I also love to travel and see other countries whenever I can, especially the sunny ones.
I have worked in financial services for 20 years. I began my career at a High Street bank before moving to a large IFA firm in London where I was the PA to two Financial Advisers, I began to put together reports and was responsible for researching funds and products on behalf of the advisers.
After 2 years I moved to an Investment, Protection and Pension Provider where I managed a sales Support team. My team provided support to the IFAs based in and around the city of London. I also studied alongside my role and passed the exams required to be an adviser. Although I was able to provide advice I have always enjoyed the role of supporting and helping others and continued to work in this role.
In 2010 I was offered a position by Andy, to help the Advisers in his firm, allowing them to spend more time with their clients. I provide support in to all aspects of the financial advice process.
Outside of work I am a busy mother of two children and find my time mostly taken up by clubs (football and dancing). I am a lover of the gym and try to get there 3 times a week, or more if I can, I find this helps to balance out my other hobby which is cooking!
I joined LB Financial Solutions almost a year ago now as an apprentice to assist with the administration of mortgages whilst studying for my CeMAP qualification. Working with the team has helped me develop my skills and overall understanding of the financial services industry, I hope to progress to become a mortgage and protection adviser in a few years.
Outside of work I enjoy socialising with friends and playing football. I also want to go travelling once I have passed all of my exams and gained more experience in my current role.
